* * * TX 136/472 - LOAD FIRMWARE ? * * *

Postby F6CWA » 30 Dec 2015 13:41

Hello
I just finished the very good TX500 kit (my first with cms components) Everything works with firmware V1.04
I want to make DFCW and WSPR with v1.07 Patrick F4gcb, the problem is I do not upload this data in the PIC.
-- The com port works well
-- I went down the speed at 9600 N 8 1
this may be the loading method that I do not understand.
"Press the power button + OPER for the flash writer" :?:
thank you for your replies

Good morning, Hubert,
Although I do not have the TX136, the firmware update procedure is essentially the same as that of the Juma TRX-2 and Juma PA-100D. The only difference is the start-up. For the TX 136, from the power OFF state, press and hold the OPER button, and then press the PWR button. You should then see the start-up screen that announces that the flash writer is started. Otherwise the procedure is the same as for the Juma TRX-2. I have written a comprehensive guide for this transceiver, and to save you having to search the website, I am attaching it to this post.

Hello Adrian
thank you for your answer .
I followed the guide, but I always come to the same result.
after launching ingenia bootloader V1.1 has different speed and
press the OPER button then the power button,
the message on the display is: JUMA TX500 V1.04 service mode
not start flash writer...
com port works well with hyperterminal and juma windows control .
can be the start Writer is not installed? .
I try with PICkit3 next week.
thanks again
very good new year Adrian

Good afternoon, Hubert,

OK, you can easily verify if the flash writer is working. Do not connect anything to the serial port. From the power OFF state, press and hold the OPER button, then briefly press the PWR button. Note: As soon as the display backlighting illuminates, release both the PWR and OPER buttons. You should immediately see the message that the flash writer has started, and after about 5 seconds it should timeout and drop into the normal operating mode. If you do not see the flash writer start message, then clearly for some reason the flash writer is not being executed.

In this case you will need to use a PicKit-3 or similar to re-flash the memory using the ICD connector on the control board. Look on the technical section of the TX-136 web page and use the file: Juma_tx500_136_bootloader_and_v103_package.hex

As you mention that you have the PicKit-3 I assume that you are familiar with its use and how to load the flash memory. If not, as I have done this several times, let me know, and I'll be happy to assist.
