The simple answer to this is "No!"
If you want a SSB transceiver, then the TRX-2 is the answer. The TRX-1 was never designed to be other than a DSB/CW transceiver, and to modify it for SSB would involve modifying the DDS synthesiser to produce two outputs in phase quadrature, in addition you would need two mixers for the quadrature audio channels, (commonly called the I and Q channels) you would need to incorporate a polyphase or other all-pass network to provide the audio quadrature signals, and then the summing circuitry to recover the processed audio. This would have to be done both for transmit and receive. Clearly, this sort of modification would, to put it mildly, 'somewhat tax the ingenuity' of the constructor. So, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but, sadly there is no way to achieve SSB operation with the TRX-1, if there were, you can bet your boots that someone would already have done it by now!
